PARTICIPATING COUNTIES

Superior Grown represents a 16-county geographic region helped defined by various factors including:

  • Proximity to Lake Superior and the Lake Superior Basin;
  • Distinct environmental and climatic conditions of NE MN and NW WI;
  • Participation from farmers in regional events and food markets;
  • Unique philosophical belief in small-scale, sustainable agriculture across the region; and
  • Natural county lines.

8-counties in NE MN and 8-counties in NW WI make up the Superior Grown region.

MN counties include: Cook, Lake, Carlton, St. Louis, Itasca, Koochiching, Pine and Aitkin.
WI counties include: Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland, Iron, Price, Sawyer, Washburn and Burnett.
